Proper Yoga for Kids
Breath-led, dynamic yoga that blends body awareness with mindfulness is a powerful tool for building resilience and supporting wellbeing. I teach yoga in schools, as well as in private family and one-to-one sessions, with a focus on fostering co-regulation - creating calm, connected spaces where young people can feel safe to explore movement, breath, and rest.
I enjoy drawing on my learning from The Minded Institute’s 40hr Yoga Therapy for Child and Adolescent Mental Health and Yoga on the Lane’s 60hr Proper Yoga for Kids training to support young people navigate anxiety, depression, and neurodiversity.
“Yoga makes me feel calm, relaxed, focused, sleepy.”
— Maggie, age 6
About
I began my yoga teacher training in 2019 while working as a secondary school teacher. I fell in love with moving at a slower, gentler pace. Teaching yoga to staff and students became a much-needed contrast to the demands of teaching an exam syllabus. I could carve out space for safe, playful exploration and give permission for dysregulated, overwhelmed bodies to rest.
Yoga offers us a philosophy and practical tools to notice our patterns and become more attuned to sensation - the tightness of dread in our abdomen, the stiffness in our shoulders, or tension held in our hips. Over time, we learn to breathe and move in ways that soften our belly, fill the lower lungs, and expand the space between the collarbones, helping us stand taller from strong foundations. So many offerings to support us in all moments of our day.
The yoga I teach and practise is grounded in ahimsa - kindness toward every part of ourselves, so we can extend outwards to those we care for, work with, and live beside.
As I come to the end of my Yoga Therapy training, I’m filled with even more awe at the magic of yoga and the many ways it supports our bodies and minds.
I am a Supervisor for The Minded Institute’s 2025 Yoga Therapy course.
